I have an addiction
Addiction is not a good thing to have. But the fact is that all are addicted to something. There is a good addiction. It is good to get addicted to God and His eternal Word. First of all, remember, this is the best addiction that will satisfy all your cravings.
What is your addiction? Are you addicted to something that destroys and decays your relationship with God or with the people around you? It could be addictions starting from drinking, jealousy, pornography or anything that stand in between your relationship between you and God and people.
It is a good thing that you are able to categorize it as an addiction. This means you are taking it seriously. You used to like it at the beginning, but now you realized that it is destroying your life. Once you realize that it is destroying your peace, joy and happiness, you need to get rid of it. Imagine you have a stinky skeleton sitting in your closet. Would you cherish the presence of that skeleton? The moment you see that there is a skeleton, you would rush to throw it away. Dear, why don’t you throw away the dirty skeletons in your life. You might be thinking that you are not able to do it. The more you try to get rid of it, the more it grabs you at your neck. In the beginning you went after that thing, now that thing is coming after you. Now you need help. You need a third person to be involved in this situation. Why don’t you ask God to be the third person. Ask Him to take that skeleton away. If you let Him take away your addiction, He will help you to get rid and wipe off that bad thing.
Jesus loves you no matter what you are going through. But, he does not like nor impressed at the dirt that you cherish. Ask Him, he will wipe it off. He will fill you with His love.
Why wait? Kneel down. Repent and ask God for a help.
